Congrats!
You have made the decision to work from home. There
are a few things to do before you take the leap to actually
working from home.
- Decide on
your business! And do a business plan
& your research. Find the right
business for you.
- Make a spot
in your house just for your business. Make
a check list of what you need such as
besides a computer for an online business
do you need a file cabinet etc etc.
- Setting a
work schedule. IF your working from home
to be home for the kids
and husband then making a work schedule
around them is the main idea.
|
- Your
website. This can be as important at the
business itself!
Getting
your website up and running can be fairly
easy but there are a few things to
consider when you decide you want a
website
|
- Your domain
name This can be done 2 ways. Either you
can register it yourself
or have your
webhost do it for you.
- Who will do
build your website and maintain it? You or
will you need someone to do it for you?
- Hosting.
You will need to find a webhost. while
most ISP
( internet service providers ) do
have webhosting, do they have the customer
service you will want or need?
A webhost can make or break a website. One
with allot of down time means no one can
visit your site if it's down.
BEFORE you decide on a webhost do your
research or you may end up not happy and
changing hosts after your site is
up. My 1st website had 3 different hosts
before I decided to host with the1 I have
now. But then I did not do any research
and ask anyone any questions! I thought
they were all alike and found out the hard
way that is wrong! So spend the time to
ask others who they use or recommend and
if they are happy with their webhost. On
some websites you will see at the bottom
of the page who the webhost is.
Most would not put that there is they were
not happy with their host especially since
there is no discount for doing so. So take
the time to shop around and find a
reliable one who will be there tomorrow,
next month and next year!
Don't be afraid to ask a webhost questions
too! If your using frontpage to build your
site you want to make sure they have it
accessible -FrontPage Extensions. Plus
will you need email accounts and how many.
Take a look at their different Hosting Features
and size packages.
Does the webhost offer Portfolio Samples
and maybe Customer Comments/ Testimonials
with the customers ink for you to see
their site. And an " About Us "
page to see how long they have been doing
webhosting and design. Remember Your
putting your business in their hands when
you host with a webhost so do your
homework and don't be afraid to ask
questions! Don't get stuck with a
large
500 MG plan it you will never use more
then 15- 30 MG!
* Your website represents YOU and YOUR
BUSINESS!
