Congrats!
You have made the decision to work from home. Here
are a few more things before you take the leap to actually
working from home.
- You decided on
your business! Did business plan
& your research. Found the right
business for you. Set a
work schedule around your kids and husband.
You have the spot in your house for your
business
- You have
your website and domain name and your set
to go.
Now here
are some things to consider. Important things
on your website that can and do make a
difference. 1 of the best ways to see what is
good and you like is to check other websites,
look around!
Your
website!
- Is it nice to look at? Choose an easy to
look at layout and colors.
- Your email
address ( you@ -your-website.com) on the
home page in an easy to find place? Ever
been to a website and not seen the email
address to ask a question? It can
frustrate potential customers! Your
competition most likely has theirs where
it can be seen
- Name you
pages. Your home page will be your index
page ( automatically)
But if you have a shopping page and sales
page be sure to name them! ( Look up
to your browser and see the name of this
page) If you don't do it then it will most
likely be new page 1 or new page 2 and so
on. And if someone decides to send your
page by email the whole website and page
is there.
This page would show as
http://www.networkofconnections.com/MakingtheWAHDecision2.htm
Looks better then http:/www.networkofconnections.com/newpage1.htm
Plus search engines also will put the page
name on your listing if it is on a page
other then your index page.
- Key words
and phrases! Search engines use these. Sitepro.com
is a great website to learn about
keyworkds and phrases. Taking the time to
do them can make a hughe difference. trafficzap.com
is also a good place to visit!
they have a free Meta Tag Generato. KMap
is also a good place to visit for help
- Added
extra's you may or may not want. It is an
individual decision and are optional
extra's.
-
Clock
with date and time
-
A
refer this site option to allow
people to send your site to a
friend
-
a
bookmark this page option
-
A
counter showing how many visitors
-
Guest
Book
-
Customer
comments page - This can be good
for business (sales)
-
A
box showing how many customers on
line
|
-
Your websites content. Example-
Let's say your website sells candles.
Having an article or tips page can be
helpful, not only does this let the
customers know you care about more then just
selling them a candle or whatever you sell
but you also took the time to offer tips on
it.
Giving that little extra can make a
big difference to visitors ( potential
customers)
And the article itself can alsoget grabbed by
the search engines! See your site stats
for key words to see how people are finding
you.
To me it is a win win thing to do!

Stats
- Hits -
A hit is any response from the server
on behalf of a request sent from a browser.
This includes any response from the server,
not only text files or documents. If, for
example, a HTML page has two images
embedded, the server generates three hits if
this page is requested: one hit for the HTML
page itself and two hits for the two inline
images.
- Visits
- the (approximate) number of actual
individual visitors. This number tries
to estimate how many people stopped by your
site. But it does not give you any
information about how long they stayed or
how many pages they looked at.
- Page Views
- Page views are all files which either have
a text file suffix (.html, .text)
or which are directory index files. This
number allows to estimate the number of
"real" documents transmitted by
your server.
